Biosciences students declared first runner-ups in "Cease the Disease" competition

Biosciences students have won the first prize in "Cease the Disease" competition, held during the GIKI Innovation Summit '14 at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Sciences and Technology. The competition was design to test the knowledge and ability of the participants to diagnose, prevent, cure, and handle an epidemic situation.


SZABIST students bagged second prize in Punjab Youth Festival 2014 ICT R&D Exhibition

BS- Computer Science students Ahmed Ali, Muhammad Farrukh, Ahsan Khatri, and Osama Shahid participated in Punjab Youth Festival 2014 ICT R&D Exhibition. Approximately 34 universities from all over Pakistan became a part of this exhibition. The SZABIST students bagged the Second prize for their 3D Printer Project name "my Print 360- 3D Printer".


National ICT R & D Fund Exhibition

Students of Computer Science Department participated in the National ICT R & D Fund Exhibition, Ministry of Information Technology. This exhibition and competition was organized by the Higher Education Commission in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, at the HEC Regional Center, Lahore. Thirty-four universities from all over Pakistan became a part of this exhibition. The SZABIST students bagged the Second prize for their 3D Printer Project.


Pakistan round of the public speaking contest

Ms. Bakhtawar Abbasi, a BBA student won the Pakistan round of the public speaking contest of the English Speaking Union of Pakistan, 2014, and qualified for the honour of representing Pakistan at the international public speaking contest to be held in London.


LUMS National Moot Competition

SZABIST Students of Law Programme Rafia Jaffer Janoo, Huzaifa Shabbir Muqadam, and Sana Javed represented SZABIST at LUMS National Moot Competition and were declared runners-ups.


100 Member International Youth Delegation, Programme, 2014

Zohfishan Bhatti, student of Biosciences, got selected for the 100 Member International Youth Delegation, Programme, 2014 to China. Was also selected as leader of her group. Moreover, she won 2nd Prize in the Photography Competition held in China during that trip and was awarded the prize by our ambassador to China.


LUMS Young Leaders' and Entrepreneurs' Summit (YLES) 2014

SZABIST students Tallal Sarwar , Harris Qasim, Faiz Altajjari, and Inciya Rangwala participated in LUMS Young Leaders' and Entrepreneurs' Summit (YLES) 2014 competition and got 3rd position.


SZABIST Student Documentary selected for the Cannes Film Festival

Seraj Us Salikin, a student of the Media Sciences Department of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST), directed and produced a short documentary film 'Masters of the Sky'. He produced this documentary as a final project for a course, which has now been selected for the Short Film Corner at the Cannes International Film Festival this year.

The Cannes International Film Festival (French: Le Festival International du Film de Cannes or just Festival de Cannes), is an annual film festival held in Cannes , France, which previews new films of all genres, including documentaries, from around the world.


SZABISTIAN WINS HBL BEST INTERN AWARD

HBL internship program conducted from 17th June to 29th July 2013 consisted a batch of 88 interns from various top universities of Pakistan and abroad.

Interns were placed in various departments in Head office HBL PLAZA. Interns were assignedvarious banking projects during the Internship period.

ArhumGhousKalsekar, student of SZABIST and Treasurer of SZABIST Student Council was a part of HBL internship program placed in the Retail Banking Group at HBL Plaza under the supervision of MujtabaNaqvi(‎General Manager Retail Business Planning & Development). Arhum worked on various internship projects which provided good learning experience to him. On the final day, he presented his internship project presentation to the Upper Management at HBL PLAZA Auditorium.

By the grace of God, Arhum won the Best Intern Award as his internship project brought huge success to HBL. He was the moderator of a focus group discussion on Social Media Usage which aided in the launch of HBL iD Campaign. HBL iD is a new account service that is being offered to the youth. Being the best intern, he was invited for lunch with the CEO of HBL.

His recommendation to HBL was to come up to International Banking Level through best practices, reporting structures and focus on Gunshot approach.

SZABISTian has made us proud!

Govinda Hira, the current President of the SZABIST Student Council, won the 3rd Biotechnology Leadership Camp (BioCamp) which was held by Novartis Pakistan in Karachi. Only two students from all over Pakistan have been selected to represent Pakistan in Switzerland, and Govinda Hira is one of them with the highest votes.

Students from IBA, LUMS, SZABIST, CBM, University of Karachi, University of Balochistan, Ziauddin University, Hamdard University, Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research, (ICCBS), University of Punjab, University of Peshawar and Baqai Medical University participated in this 3-day BioCamp.

During the event, students were thoroughly judged by the panel of judges and after rigorous selection process, two participants were selected to represent Pakistan in the International BioCamp being held at Novartis International Headquarters in Basel, Switzerland from August 25 to 28, 2013.


SZABISTIANS bagged 2nd position in quiz competition "Pakistan Cheen Dosti"

Students of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST ), Zara Zahid and Permeshwar Parkash, bagged second position in an inter-university quiz competition "Pakistan Cheen Dosti", organized by the Pak-China Citizen Association, in collaboration with Pakistan Quiz Society, on July 6, 2013 at MAJU. Overall 23 teams participated in the competition from 11 different universities of Karachi.


SZABISTIANS Win Essay Competition

Students of SZABIST Rukaiya Malik and Muhammad Mustaqeem Yousfani, have been declared winners of the Essay Competition organized by HS consultants in which more than 250 students from all over Pakistan participated. Rukaiya Malik was 2nd runner up and was awarded Rs. 20,000 and Mustaqeem was amongst the top 10 winners. The prize distribution ceremony was held at Sheraton Hotel, Karachi on March 3, 2013


Another Best Move by SZABISTIAN

Ms. Eeshah Khalid student of SZABIST International LLB programme at Karachi, which is allied with University of London, has achieved first class award amongst the top ten candidates of Undergraduate Law Programme this year. According to Mr. Simon Askey, the Chair of the Board of Examiners at University of London, Ms. Eeshah has achieved first class and the best award of this century. SZABIST is proud of her outstanding performance throughout her academic career; we wish her a successful career ahead.

Ms. Eeshah Khalid student of SZABIST International LLB programme at Karachi, which is allied with University of London, has achieved the best result in May 2012 Scheme A Year 2 examination. Due to her remarkable success in LLB exam the Board of Examiners at University of London has awarded her the Routledge Law Prize, which consists of Routledge-Cavendish publications.


SZABISTians Win the Best Business Idea Competition at LUMS

Students of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) Umair Shaikh, Munnazzah Raza, Munira Zanzibarwala, Abeer Mahar, Kamil Karim, Hasnain Mohammadi, Govinda Hira, Haris Ahmed, Bakhtawar Abbasi, Adam Qureshi, Aman Ashraf, Mustafa, Falak Sohail, Omer Perji Barha won the Best Business Idea Competition in LUMS Business Initiative (LBI) 2013. In the three-day event, there were around 70 teams, and 350 delegates from all over Pakistan.

The competition was judged by local and international investors who declared SZABIST students to be the recipients of the best business idea. The students were awarded 4 shields and the LBI trophy.
